AMA Waterways

AMA Waterways was founded in 2002 by three families and has been operating for over 19 years. They are very supportive of the interline community and have elegantly appointed ships, offer locally sourced food and wine, excellent customer service, and provide guests with unforgettable travel experiences. They were the first river cruise company to have a dedicated Wellness Host on board and provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy wellness activities on vacation. They operate 20 ships in Europe, two more in Portugal, and one ship in Africa, Egypt and the Vietnam and Cambodia area.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises

Uniworld River Cruises has 14 ships in Europe, two in Egypt, one in India, Peru, Vietnam and Cambodia. They offer a selection of themed cruises like Oberammergau, and Jewish Heritage themes, cruise and rail vacations including into Siberia, Holiday sailings, and active cruising called “U by Uniworld.” Each boutique river ship’s decor is inspired by the river it cruises on, and every suite is also unique with distinctive color palettes, antiques, and original artwork. Every suite on the ship is decorated different. They are well known for their exceptional excursions and offer interline rates!

Viking River Cruises

Viking is a huge company and has over 76 river cruise ships that sail in Europe, and other destinations such as Russia (5 ships), Asia (1 ship), Ukraine (1 ship), Egypt (4 ships), and the Mississippi (1 ship). They have been in business for over 20 years, and most of their fleet consists of “Viking Longships” which showcase Scandinavian design and they are all identical sister ships. The Viking longships carry around 190 guests, and does not have extras like spas, bikes, pools, or casinos on their ships. Viking concentrates on destination immersion and has lots of alfresco dining options.

Tauck

Tauck’s 9 river ships carry around 130 passengers and are the same size as the Viking Longships that carry 190 guests. Tauck offers a high- end intimate experience on-board with spacious staterooms, elegant décor, open seating dining and a good selection for vegetarian and vegan guests. Everyone has space to relax on the ship and friendships among guests develop easily and the staff provides you with personal attention and impeccable service.

Avalon

Avalon’s fleet of 19 vessels includes 14 “Suite Ships” with special floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows that carry between 128 and 166 guests. They sail in Europe, Asia, South America (Amazon) and Africa (Egypt). Avalon is owned by Globus making it easy to add a pre or post land tour onto your river cruise vacation. Avalon’s active “Discovery Itineraries” give you plenty of options to kayaking, bike, hike and explore destinations. There are lots of theme cruises to choose (art, golf, beer, wine, opera, wellness, jazz, World War II) complete with special activities, lecturers, and shore excursions to compliment the theme.

Emerald Cruises

Emerald Cruises has 9 Star-ships and began in 2014 on the promise of providing EmeraldValue at the heart of all that they do. There ships have a swimming pool located that has a retractable roof which converts the pool into a movie theater at night. Very cool! Gratuities are included with the Emerald cruise fare which is nice, and they offer escorted bike rides and many other complimentary active options. Emerald ships have “indoor balconies” which is a floor to ceiling window that drops down halfway with the push of button. Emerald tends to have younger passengers, more first-time cruisers, and more Australians on board.

Scenic Luxury Cruises

Scenic is the luxury sister of Emerald Waterways. Scenic is founded by Glen Moroney, an Australian businessman, and operates river ships in Europe, Asia, and Russia. Scenic “Space-Ship suites” are some of the largest most spacious suites on any of the river ships. You will enjoy a totally all-inclusive vacation with Scenic including all-day butler service.
